Present Iteration

Organic cotton
[noun]

Organic cotton is grown from seeds that are not genetically modified. The process is done naturally without the use of pesticides and the cotton is harvested from fields that are regularly rotated. This process ensures that the soil is not degraded as it is in regular cotton. Organic cotton is also irrigated using 80% rain water. Using rain water allows this process to be less water intensive than regular cotton production.

Recycled PET

PET (polyethylene terephthalate) is a type of plastic that is 100% recyclable. PET is not a single plastic like most packaging and not similar to the harmful plastics we use daily. PET, when recycled, can be broken down to form from RPET (recycled polyethylene terephthalate). RPET is then used as a fiber to create clothing and accessories.

Vegan Leather

Vegan leather is a material that mimics the texture and quality of real leather. Rather than being made from animal skins, vegan leather is made from a mix of microfibers or natural resources. Some natural resources that can be used to create vegan leather are pineapple leaves, apple peels, and cork.

Cork

Cork is harvested from cork oak trees making this material 100% sustainable. Cork farming actually has a negative carbon footprint due to cork oak forest being a carbon sink. Because of this, using cork in footwear or accessories is beneficial to the environment.

Piñatex

Piñatex is a natural fabric. It is made from pineapple leaf fibres. The leaves, that would otherwise be discarded, are processed to make fabric. The unused fibres can also be used as fertilizer in the fields. Therefore closing the circle.

Recycled Nylon

Recycled nylon can be made from recycled plastic materials like plastic bottles, containers, or even trash from the oceans. The plastics are then melted down and shredded to create fibers. These fibers can be woven into yarn that then become fabric for clothing and accessories.

Eco-friendly water based ink

Using water based ink in the printing process is a more sustainable option compared to traditional printing methods. Water based inks don't contain Polyvinyl chloride (PVC). PVC`s are a plastic material that are used in fashion and footwear as well as, toys, cables, packaging, and construction. These plastics are extremely toxic and environmentally damaging. The use and production of PVCs lets off toxic chemicals that can build up in the water, air, and the food chain. Using water based inks is a safer alternative not only for the earth but for us as well.

Renewable energy

Renewable energy sources include solar, wind, hydropower, biomass, and geothermal energy. Some of our brands use these sources of energy throughout their production process. The use of renewable energy sources decreases the amount of carbon emitted through the production process and limits the use of nonrenewable resources.

Drop shipping

At Present Iteration we work with our brands to use a drop shipping method. This means the items get shipped directly from the brand to you. This cuts out one step in the shipping process. Drop shipping cuts down the length of the supply chain and the amount of times the piece has to be shipped. The less the item has to be shipped, the less carbon dioxide is emitted.

Compostable Garment Shippers

Our brands at Present Iteration use compostable garment shippers. No single use plastic is being used in the shipping process. Compostable shippers are packages made from bio-based materials. These materials break down in a compost and essentially are given back to the earth.

Deadstock fabric

Deadstock Fabric comes from the leftovers in the fashion industry. These fabrics would be thrown into a landfill otherwise, but brands are able to reuse these fabrics to make new pieces. Using deadstock fabric is a sustainable solution that lowers the amount of textile waste produced by the fashion industry.
